Environments

A Reemo instance is made of one or more environments: sets of micro-services that fulfill a specific functional role and deploy independently. You enable only the environments you need, depending on the usage mode and the licenses.

Understanding this split helps you size an instance and place components on the right servers.

The environments

  • INFRA: the core of the instance. It groups the API, the portals, the database, and the internal services. It is mandatory.

  • PROVISION: hosts and orchestrates the users’ containers (Reemo Containers).

  • APPLIANCE: an outbound provision variant — it connects to the core through a secure gateway, without opening any inbound flow toward the network hosting the containers.

  • RELAYWS: provides the relays for WebSocket mode.

  • TURN: WebRTC media relay (STUN/TURN), used when the direct link between the client and the agent cannot be established.

Separating the INFRA environment

INFRA is not necessarily monolithic: its roles can be spread across dedicated servers. The main distinction is between the API (the application core and the database) and the portals (the web frontends exposed to users). The TURN media relay can also be externalized.

This separation lets you place the portals in an exposed zone (DMZ) and keep the API core in an internal zone, each part living on its own servers.

The INFRA environment groups the Portal and the API; the API is connected to the PROVISION, RELAYWS, APPLIANCE and TURN environments.
